Minnesota Trapshooting Hall of Fame

Peter Souba
Brainerd, MN

Elected: 1994
Shooting Member

Pete's notable shooting career began in July of 1960 at the Blooming Prairie Gun Club at the Minnesota State Shoot with a score of 181 X 200.  He says he found out then he had a lot to learn. His first 100 straight came June 9, 1962 when he broke 199 X 200 at the annual Captain Billy Fawcett Shoot.

Now definitely "hooked" on trapshooting he made his first trip to the Grand in 1962. He didn't win that year but during his career he has won numerous Grand trophies.

The 1965 Class AA Champion Trophy he remembers as the biggest thrill of his life.  He shot 5-200 straights at the Grand between 1963 and '71. His 16 yard average has been over 97% for 16 of the years that he has shot, considering that he was unable to shoot some of the intervening years due to health, that is a remarkable achievement.  In 1983, four months after bypass surgery he was taking home the Minnesota Class Singles trophy for his 199 X 200.

Pete earned the 27 yard line June 4, 1966, the third or fourth Minnesotan to reach this milestone.
